About Hebrew SeniorLife

Corporate Governance

Statement of Trustees' and Directors' Responsibilities
The responsibilities of Hebrew SeniorLife's Trustees and Directors are grounded in trust, accountability, delegated responsibility and authority, and collaborative leadership. Both Trustees and Directors are expected to understand and promote the mission and work of the organization.

Employing wisdom and thoughtful consideration of the community's values and traditions:

  • A Trustee is expected to actively participate in the election of the Board of Directors, Chair, Treasurer, and Secretary, and to be adequately informed to consider decisions regarding potential changes in purpose or mission and/or merger or consolidation brought before the Board of Trustees. Trustees are expected to serve on at least one board committee.
  • A Director is expected to be fully informed and to actively participate in the functions of the Board of Directors to assure fiduciary and organizational integrity and to provide policy guidance and direction to HSL.

Because all Trustees and Directors share duties of trust and responsibility, each will take a leadership role through active participation, serving as an ambassador for HSL in the community and as a contributor and fundraiser for annual and capital needs.

For questions regarding Corporate Governance, please contact Stacey Weinbaum, Executive Director of Board Relations, at 617-971-5790 or Weinbaum@hsl.harvard.edu
