Ken Rudnick, 86, decided decades ago that Hebrew SeniorLife was an essential community organization to support.
"I grew up in Brookline, and I’d always heard about a place where seniors could live with respect and dignity,” he recalls. “I was a young man, just past age 20, when I decided that this was an institution I could commit to wholeheartedly, because even then I believed that caring for our seniors is so important.
At that time, I couldn't imagine ever being old enough to need Hebrew SeniorLife's services!
In 2010, Ken set up a charitable gift annuity with Hebrew SeniorLife —his first significant donation to any nonprofit. He received tax benefits when he made his gift, and will receive a guaranteed stream of income for the rest of his life. The remaining balance will be used to support the compassionate, innovative and transformative work that happens every day at Hebrew SeniorLife.
"Over the years I've watched Hebrew SeniorLife grow into an organization that I believe has the best senior health care, communities and research in all of America - it's the number one institution for seniors.
Ken's gift makes a powerful statement about his commitment to promoting the independence and well-being of all seniors.
"Members of my own family and many friends have been helped by the organization's expertise," he explains. "Through my donation, I know I'm making a difference in the lives of seniors and families in our community.
