Family Support & Respite
The myth is that American families don't keep their elders at home, but in reality, many elders are being cared for by spouses, children or other relatives at home.
Caregivers have their own issues:
- They need a break from caregiving
- They need support
- They need to know they are not alone
- They need information
- They need to be able to go to work, take care of other responsibilities, and take care of themselves knowing that their relative is safe and well cared for.
Peace of Mind
Our day programs are a major support for elderly spouses and working caregivers who are committed to keeping their relative at home with them. Relatives living apart, even out of state, can also have peace of mind knowing their relative is not alone, but is part of a community and cared for by staff who can address a wide variety of issues.
Participants' family members repeatedly give us feedback that attending the adult day health program has improved the health and quality of life of their relative, provides peace of mind and relief to their family, and supports the ability of the senior to live in the community.
