Department of Medicine at Hebrew Rehabilitation Center

Clinical Care

The Department of Medicine provides medical care at several Hebrew SeniorLife facilities. Offering a system of comprehensive coverage utilizing staff physicians and geriatrics fellows, Hebrew Rehabilitation Center provides a level of care that is rare in a long-term care institution.

Department of Medicine physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants care for patients in a number of different settings. The Medical Acute Care Unit (MACU) provides acute-care hospital services for patients who require an average 25-day length of stay, including ventilator and dialysis patients. The Rehabilitative Services Unit (RSU) is a short-term, post-acute unit that provides skilled nursing care for patients who require rehabilitative, nursing or medical care. Outpatient Services offers therapy programs and specialty services for patients and community residents, as well HRC's long-term care population.

Members of the department also provide primary care at Orchard Cove, our continuing care retirement community in Canton, at both its Wellness Center and Skilled Nursing Facility. In addition, our physicians, most of whom hold faculty appointments at Harvard Medical School, serve as medical attendings on the inpatient geriatric service at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.
