Holocaust Tragedy Reflected in Music Presented by Dr. Ludmilla Liebman Thursday, September 2, 7:45 pm (future dates: 9/30, 10/7, 10/21, and 11/17) Location: Great Meadow Hall B
These five lectures are based on the topics from the course, "Music of the Holocaust Period," which Dr. Liebman taught at Boston University from2001 to 2009, to hundreds of students, both at the University and online. The first lecture will be dedicated to the history of Jüdische Kulturbund, a unique musical organization that existed in Nazi Germany from1933 until 1941.
After immigrating to America from Saint Petersburg in 1991, Leibman received her Doctor of Musical Arts degree from Boston University and in 1998 and began teaching music theory on the faculty of the Boston University School of Music. Dr. Leibman lectures worldwide on the topic of music as a tool of resistance during the Holocaust period.
High Holidays Music Medley with Moshe Feldman Thursday, September 16, 7:45 pm Location: Great Meadow Hall B
Making his second NewBridge appearance, Pianist Moshe Feldman will perform a medley of Klezmer, Yiddish, Israeli, and Hasidic tunes as well as Ragtime, Swing, and Broadway favorites. Since moving to the United States from the former Soviet Union, Moshe has performed in New York, Boston, and New Orleans including performances on local and national television shows, the Harvard Club, the Klezmer Conservatory Band, and at the 92nd Street Y in New York. He holds a bachelor's of music degree from Berklee College of Music, Boston.

Resilience: Developing Positive Responses to Stressful Life Events Presenter: Marjorie Kettell, Ph.D. Tuesday, September 28, 7:30-9:00 pm Location: Great Meadow Hall
Why do some people seem to cope well with life's challenges, while others falter or fall by the wayside? Two important factors come into play - how we assess the seriousness of the challenge and whether we can draw on past experiences to cope with the new event. In this presentation, Dr. Kettell will discuss other important aspects of developing and supporting resilient reactions to change. There will be small group discussion as well.
Dr. Marjorie Kettell has been working with children and adults of all ages for many years as a clinical psychologist and more recently, a psychoanalyst.
"Trees of Life" Members' Grove Dedication Wednesday, September 29, 2:30 Location: Terrace Room and Sukkah
To celebrate the planting of the first "Tree of Life", we will gather in the Terrace Room for a dedication ceremony followed by piano selections by our own Sheila Waxman. We will proceed to the Sukkah to accompany the tree through the garden to its planting location. Refreshments will be served.
