Research Recruitment at the Institute for Aging Research

Recruitment at the Institute for Aging Research

The men and women who volunteer to participate in research studies are really the unsung heroes of the effort to improve health care for all seniors.

The Institute for Aging Research has played a pivotal role in recruitment of subjects for aging research throughout Boston's research community. IFAR recruits volunteers through a variety of traditional methods, including community education programs, newsletters, newspaper ads, fliers and direct mail, among others. But it has the distinct advantage of being part of a larger community that benefits from its research. Residents throughout Hebrew SeniorLife's system of housing participate regularly in projects.

IFAR grants support programs that serve as models for successful and responsible recruitment of research subjects among older adults from racially and ethnically diverse communities.
