New Affordable Apartments for Seniors, From a Community You Trust
Simon C. Fireman Community in Randolph, MA is growing! An expansion of the property will open in summer 2023, to include new apartments and community spaces. We’re eager to welcome more residents to the Fireman Community, which offers affordable housing with services so older adults can live their best lives.
New One-Bedroom Apartments Coming Summer 2023
We are adding 45 one-bedroom apartments to our existing 160-apartment community. Each apartment will be approximately 620 square feet and include:
- Full kitchen
- Energy-efficient heat and air conditioning controls
- Laminate flooring
- 24-hour emergency call and check-in system
- Bathroom handrails
Sensory and mobility accessible units will be available.
In addition to the apartments, our expanded property will offer:
- Two courtyards with walking paths, exercise stations, and benches
- Multi-purpose room
- Fitness center
- Art/game room
- Deck overlooking the courtyard
- Library and reading nooks
- Lounge
Residents of our new expansion units will benefit from all the services and supports offered to residents throughout the Simon C. Fireman Community to keep older adults healthy, active, and engaged. These include:
- Onsite dining program with three free meals per week, and meals for purchase on two additional days
- Programming to support seniors’ physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs
- Transportation to local shops
- Security and facilities staff available around the clock for emergencies
- Grocery and goodies store
- Weekly banking services
- Hair salon
Affordable Housing Eligibility
Simon C. Fireman Community is a 100% affordable senior supportive housing community. You or a member of your household must be 62 years or older to live here.
Applicants aged 62+ earning between $43,050 - $58,920 for a single occupant, or between $43,050 - $67,320 for two people, or individuals with mobile section 8 vouchers are invited to apply to rent one of 27 newly-built expansion apartments reserved for those at 60% Area Median Income (AMI). The subsidized monthly rent for these apartments is $1,499. Currently there is no waitlist for these units and all applications will be processed and approved in the order of receipt.
The expansion also includes four units reserved for seniors earning at or below 50% AMI, and 11 units reserved for seniors earning at or below 30% AMI. Initial residents for these 15 units were selected via a lottery on March 2, 2023. This lottery was conducted in accordance with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Office of Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity guidelines to ensure access for those who may traditionally have difficulty accessing affordable housing.
