James Brown is executive director of the Center Communities of Brookline, a 511 multi-income independent senior housing with supportive services campus located in Coolidge Corner, Brookline, MA. The campus spans multiple city blocks and is made up of four different buildings. James is responsible for the management of Center Communities of Brookline, which involves overseeing administrative, fiscal, facilities, community life, religious services, and dining service operations with a staff of 46 to support services for approximately 550 residents.
James has been in this role since October 2021. Before that, he was the associate executive director for the Center Communities of Brookline starting in 2019. As the associate executive director, he was responsible for the overall operations and management of the community overseeing the maintenance, dietary, fitness, administrative, and resident services departments, and ensuring the highest quality of care to the residents.
Prior to joining Center Communities of Brookline, James was on active duty for the Massachusetts Air National Guard, where he coordinated National Guard medical capabilities with civilian medical agencies as a regional medical planner and was responsible for the budget and training of a medical group as an operations officer. James has over 20 years of health care experience both as a physical therapist and administrator for orthopedics and rehabilitation departments and holds a master’s degree in physical therapy from Quinnipiac University, a Doctor of Physical Therapy from MGH Institute for Health Professionals, and a Master of Business Administration from Endicott College. He lives in Milton with his wife, daughter, and son and enjoys traveling, cooking, and mountain biking.
