Steve Colwell, Executive Director
Stephen Colwell is responsible for creating and maintaining an exceptional living environment on the NewBridge on the Charles campus. Having joined NewBridge in 2008, a year before NewBridge opened, he oversees activities, programming, and services provided in the community center, food and beverage areas, and physical maintenance operations on the campus. Before his tenure at NewBridge on the Charles, Steve had more than 24 years of experience within the hospitality industry, including multiple managerial positions with the Hilton Hotels Corporation. His most recent position was as the executive director at Cabot Park Village, an independent living community in Newton.
Matthew Hollingshead, Executive Director, Assisted Living
Matthew Hollingshead joined assisted living at NewBridge on the Charles as executive director in the spring of 2016. He also helps oversee and support operations across the broader NewBridge on the Charles campus including the community life, culinary, housekeeping, security, and maintenance teams. Previously, he served for ten years in a series of leadership positions at another continuing care retirement community in Massachusetts. As a licensed nursing home administrator, his roles there included oversight of long-term care, short-term rehabilitation, home health services, memory care, and facility operations. Matthew has a bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University and a master’s in business from Boston University. He serves on the public policy committee of the Massachusetts Assisted Living Association (Mass-ALA).
Fernando Rodrigues, Director of Facilities
Fernando is responsible for the management, operation, maintenance, and repair of the NewBridge on the Charles campus, including the exterior grounds, as well as the capital budget. Fernando has over 23 years of experience in facilities management, including six years of experience in health care facility management. Fernando most recently served in a senior facilities role at another continuing care retirement community. His career has included operations positions with Legal Sea Foods, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Division of Capital Asset Management and Maintenance, Beacon Management Company, and Procter & Gamble. Fernando is a United States Marine Corps veteran.
David Raider, Director of Community Life
David oversees the community life department, which is responsible for building community in the areas of programming, fitness, member services, and spiritual life. Having come to NewBridge on the Charles in 2009, David has more than 15 years of experience in the senior living industry, both in sales and marketing positions and as a regional director of the activity programs at over 40 assisted living communities in the Northeast. Prior to that, he worked in corporate team development for a company that specialized in experiential learning. David graduated from the hotel management program at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, and worked for various Boston hotels before settling on the industry that is a perfect match for his skills.
Sheila Waxman, Director of Sales and Hebrew SeniorLife Internal Sales
Sheila Waxman began her sales career with Hebrew SeniorLife in 2006, three years before the official opening of NewBridge on the Charles. She has led the independent and assisted living sales teams to maximum occupancy and continues to ensure excellent experiences for potential residents and their families. Sheila and her team work to understand changes in the senior living industry so that NewBridge on the Charles stays current with housing, programming, and healthcare initiatives. Prior to joining the NewBridge team, Sheila served as both director of resident services and director of marketing at Lasell Village in Auburndale and was the corporate director of programs for Cordia Senior Living, a division of Boston Financial, where she created programming for retirement communities in Massachusetts, Utah, and California.
