Eva Schmitt, PhD, is a social gerontologist/social worker and associate director of the Aging Brain Center at the Hinda and Arthur Marcus Institute for Aging Research. She is the study director of the Successful Aging after Elective Surgery (SAGES), the first NIH-funded P01 Delirium Program Project, the Network for Investigation of Delirium: Unifying Scientists (NIDUS), the NIH R01-funded Better Assessment of Illness (BASIL) study, and the PCORI-funded trial Hospital Elder Life Program (HELP) vs. Family-Augmented HELP (FAM-HELP) for Prevention of Delirium. She serves as a key co-investigator on all the mentioned projects and regularly authors manuscripts related to their work. Since joining the Aging Brain Center in 2010, Dr. Schmitt has been a part of an author team that publishes groundbreaking work focused on delirium, dementia, and aging research.
