Rabbi Lior Nevo Honored with LeadingAge Massachusetts Heart and Hands Award

She was also recognized for her work supporting Jack Satter House’s Spectacular Seniors 2025 Calendar.

Hebrew SeniorLife’s Rabbi Lior Nevo has received the Heart and Hands Award from LeadingAge Massachusetts. This award recognizes an individual or group of employees who exemplify exceptional relationships with residents or clients — relationships that bring special enrichment and enhance quality of life through efforts that go above and beyond the normal scope of their role.

LeadingAge Massachusetts recognized Rabbi Nevo during ceremonies at its annual meeting for her “spiritual leadership and personal counsel [that] have uplifted residents and families alike. Rabbi Nevo walks alongside residents in moments of joy and in times of sorrow, offering care that is both deeply personal and profoundly grounding. Her ability to meet individuals where they are, to listen with empathy, and to guide with wisdom reflects the very essence of this award.”

She was also celebrated for her work supporting the Jack Satter House Spectacular Seniors 2025 fundraising calendar. “Rabbi Nevo’s creativity has also transformed the way residents see themselves and how the broader community sees older adults. Her Spectacular Seniors calendar project stands out as an example of joyful, stereotype-shattering innovation. Through photography and storytelling, the project highlighted the vibrancy, humor, and individuality of Jack Satter House’s residents, challenging conventional narratives about aging and placing older adults at the center of a celebration of life. The calendar not only brought joy to participants but also instilled a renewed sense of pride across the community.”

Finally, she was praised for her work, “a reminder that care is not only about meeting needs but also about nurturing spirit, dignity, and belonging. Through her heart and her hands, Rabbi Nevo has built bridges of understanding and connection, reinforcing the truth that aging is filled with vitality, meaning, and possibility.”

Nevo grew up in Jerusalem, Israel, and has a bachelor’s degree in Bible and Jewish Thought from Hebrew University in Jerusalem. She received her master’s degree in Pluralistic Jewish Education in a joint program of Hebrew University and Hebrew Union College – Jewish Institute of Religion. In 2015 she was ordained as a rabbi at HUC-JIR in Jerusalem.  She performed all of her chaplaincy training at Hebrew SeniorLife’s Clinical Pastoral Education program.

“We are so proud of Rabbi Nevo and the profound impact she has on our community,” said Jack Satter House Executive Director Caren Silverlieb, MMHS. “Her ability to connect with residents on a personal and spiritual level brings comfort, meaning, and joy to so many. Her compassionate presence, deep empathy, and unwavering commitment to residents and families embody the spirit of this honor.”
