Hebrew SeniorLife, New England’s largest nonprofit provider of senior health care and living communities, has been proud to be part of the Roslindale community since 1963. We are thrilled to propose building a new affordable housing community for older adults at our 1200 Centre Street campus. The proposed development would provide high-quality, supportive housing that reflects our commitment to healthy aging, sustainability, and partnership with the surrounding community.
The six-story building would be located on what is currently a small staff parking lot. The community would offer access to wellness supports, resident services coordination, and opportunities for connection with the broader Hebrew SeniorLife continuum of care.
Our Commitment to Community Engagement
Hebrew SeniorLife is actively engaging with neighborhood groups, local leaders, and residents to ensure the project reflects the values and needs of the Roslindale community. Ongoing conversations with the Longfellow Area Neighborhood Association, Arnold Arboretum, WalkUP Roslindale, and city officials are helping guide the planning process.
We are committed to transparency, collaboration, and respectful communication throughout the design, approval, and construction phases.
Community Benefits
This project is designed to:
- Address the growing need for affordable senior housing in the local community
- Provide energy-efficient, attractive housing that complements the Arboretum setting
- Promote healthy aging and independence through service coordination and wellness supports
- Help seniors remain in the community they call home
- Align with the City of Boston’s goals to accelerate affordable housing production
- Meet Passive House and Enterprise Green Communities standards
Timeline: The project is currently in the Article 80B Large Project Review process with the Boston Planning Department. A Letter of Intent was submitted in May 2025, and we are preparing additional materials in partnership with the City and Boston Housing Authority.

A Trusted Model
This Roslindale proposal builds on Hebrew SeniorLife’s successful track record in developing and operating affordable senior housing throughout Greater Boston, including communities in Randolph, Dorchester, Brookline, and Revere. These communities provide safe, affordable homes designed for aging in place, with coordinated services and access to Hebrew SeniorLife’s broader network of care.
