Hebrew SeniorLife has been part of the Roslindale community since 1963. We plan to build a six-story affordable housing community for older adults at 1198 Centre Street, on the current staff parking lot at Walter and Centre streets. The community will offer wellness supports, resident services coordination, and connections to Hebrew SeniorLife’s broader continuum of care.
Project Update: State and City Funding Awarded
The planned Roslindale community has received funding support from the Healey-Driscoll administration, an important milestone in advancing the development. The project previously received funding and zoning approvals from the City of Boston. We anticipate construction starting in the fall of 2027 with occupancy planned for winter 2029.
Community Benefits
This project is designed to:
- Address the growing need for affordable senior housing in the local community
- Provide energy-efficient, attractive housing that complements the Arboretum setting
- Promote healthy aging and independence through service coordination and wellness supports
- Help older adults remain in the community they call home
- Align with the City of Boston’s goals to accelerate affordable housing production
- Meet Passive House standards
A Trusted Model
This planned community in Roslindale builds on Hebrew SeniorLife’s successful track record in developing and operating affordable senior housing throughout Greater Boston, including communities in Randolph, Dorchester, Brookline, and Revere. These communities provide safe, affordable homes designed for aging in place, with coordinated services and access to Hebrew SeniorLife’s broader network of care.
