Louis J. Woolf served as president and CEO of Harvard Medical School affiliate Hebrew SeniorLife from 2009 until his retirement in 2023.
During his tenure, Woolf oversaw a period of steady revenue growth that supported an array of new clinical and research initiatives as well as new and expanded senior living communities. He oversaw many new programs and services, including the Deanna and Sidney Wolk Center for Memory Health; a much-needed community-based hospice service; a new palliative care program offered by Hebrew SeniorLife Home Health; the opening of NewBridge on the Charles, a state-of-the-art continuing care retirement community in Dedham; groundbreaking for 54 new apartments and a neighborhood community center at 108 Centre Street at Center Communities of Brookline; construction of an additional 45 new units of affordable senior housing at the Simon C. Fireman Community in Randolph; and, in cooperation with Dorchester Bay Economic Development Corporation, the construction of Leyland Community, the first affordable senior housing building in the Upham’s Corner neighborhood of Dorchester, comprising 43 apartments, community space, and supportive services.
